CoralBloom Studio
Functional art by CoralBloom Studio is a celebration of art, design and the beauty of South Africa’s diverse fauna and flora. Bring nature indoors with these elegant homeware, table linen and loungewear collections. Functional art and exquisite printed textiles in a multitude of thoughtful colourways offer infinite design solutions for any living space or lifestyle. As a family-run business, our love and admiration of nature is integrated with conservation and beauty, which forms the foundation of this creative endeavour.
Everything at CoralBloom is done in-house from original drawings & watercolour illustrations, to sustainable fabric selection, to product design and skillful manufacturing. We pour love and passion into every design to showcase our original art in combination with trendy colour palettes and natural textures. We align ourselves with slow and circular design principles and strive to create thoughtful items that communicate a story of respect and care.
We ensure that materials and supplies are sourced locally and only work with printers who use eco-friendly water-based inks and energy saving equipment. The CoralBloom range is available in sustainable hemp, cotton and linen textiles. Each item is lovingly hand-sewn by artisans in our Somerset West studio and is made to last. The CoralBloom team is continually creating and we are so proud to share the richly varied South African landscape as our heritage.
Dr Michelle Jooste, the founder and director of CoralBloom, earned a PhD in Botany & Microbiology in 2019. She is also a self-taught artist and jewellery designer and a hobby of painting and turning reclaimed copper into jewelry evolved into a full-time passion called CoralBloom. This creative endeavor, borne from a close bond with nature, is a family initiative woven together by my sister, mum, dad and myself. Our functional art range aims to bring joy into the home to inspire and share our deep love for nature.
