How to use

Kigelia extract has proven tightening and firming properties, reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Combined with vitamin A, B and C from baobab extract, essential amino acids, polysaccharides and glycoproteins from aloe ferox, this Uplifting Serum gives the skin a firm and plump appearance.

Vitamin C, flavonoids, polyphenols and the powerful Super-Oxide-Dismutase are potent anti-oxidants that act as freeradical scavengers, reducing damage caused by oxidation.

Active compounds in kigelia (quinones, irridoids, coumarines and flavonoids), combined with rooibos leaf extract, Aloe ferox and buchu evens out skin tone and reduce sunspots. Buchu has antiseptic properties that prevent bacterial growth, reducing blemishes and blotches. It also regulates the natural secretion of sebum.

Low molecular weight Hyaluronic acid prepares the skin for hydration, allowing active compounds from our hydrating products to penetrate deeper into the skin.

UVB damage leads to modification of DNA structure and subsequent alteration of cell functioning and accelerated skin aging.

The UVA induced damage leads to loss of a fragment from the circular DNA of the mitochondria, which may result in a disruption of mitochondria functioning and energy synthesis. This is thought to be a major mechanism by which UVA radiation causes photo-aging of human skin. DNAGETM, a plant extract from the candle tree (Cassia Alata) protects two types of DNA from UV damage: it protects nuclear DNA against UVB and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) against UVA. Additionally, DNAGETM supports the endogenous repair process of the cells.

This combination of protection and repair allows preventing UV induced skin alterations (clinical demonstration available from the manufacturer of DNAGETM).

Apply twice daily on face, neck and décolleté after cleansing and toning. Leave on until you feel a tightening sensation. Follow with Terres d'Afrique hydrating products.

What is Clean Beauty?

With words such as green, natural and organic we are often misled into thinking a product is ‘clean’ without checking the label. Clean beauty means that a product is safe, non-toxic, and has transparent labeling of ingredients. Just because a product is green/natural/organic it doesn’t mean it is clean. Clean Beauty, at its core, is a product that is safe to use with no harmful ingredients (to reiterate: not chemicals, but ingredients!).

Small Batch production

Small batch production has taken off in the last 2-3 years with local businesses taking the lead. From decor and beauty to food brands, we are seeing a huge shift in expectation from consumers as well as brands leading the process. Conscious consumers are moving away from mass-produced, large-scale beauty products to sustainable and eco-friendly makeup brands that operate along ethical lines. A renewed focus on zero-waste makeup is also part of this planet- and people-conscious movement.
