One of the oldest recorded essential oils in history, myrrh was very popular in the Middle East and Mediterranean civilizations; it was used to make incense and perfumes, and heal wounds thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. Its warm, woody aroma gives out a feeling of ease and relaxation, making it the ideal oil for a grounding meditation.
Commiphora Myrrha grows in the dry desert regions of northern and eastern Africa, found mainly in Somalia. Tapping takes place during the dry season when the trees no longer have leaves.
