Structure woven by hand, height approximately 30 cm and diameter 25,5 cm

This curvaceous pot is expertly woven with jazzy spots and stripes, and it lights up creating a dancing lights it is exceptional on a side table, mantlepiece or bedside table.

Details

Drawn in our studio the patterned form is woven beautifully with a unique artisanal weaving technique, elevating a timeless craft, this is a unique table top lamp.

This natural lamp is woven by hand using a traditional basket weaving technic from Bolgatanga, in the north of Ghana. The delicate open weave stripes spread light patterns across walls.

Woven with the grass Veta Vera, which is naturally durable. This table lamp is vibrant above a dining table, in a bedroom, in a living room or hallway.

Technique

Basket weaving from Bolgatanga is a a traditional African weaving technic. The grass Veta Vera grows locally. The reeds are twisted by hand and small batches are coloured using vegetable dyes in cauldrons.

The weaving is tight and smooth. Our lamps are woven by an association of weavers, these weavers have honed their art to make our contemporary shapes.

This lamp takes 3 days to weave  in Ghana and is assembled to order in our workshop, now based in Barcelona, with CE certified electrics (or UL if you are in Americas) and brass fixtures.

Characteristics

Please do not forget that this lamp is woven by hand and the slight differences in shape and colour are completely normal. Please also remember that the material is natural and therefore we do not recommend them for use outside or on terraces or plaved in a hot humid room in front of a window. The colours are natural and may fade if hung in direct sunlight.

Golden Editions believes that artisanal is the new luxury. Our lamps and cushions are made by hand to be treasured..
